The 3rd edition of T'ang Quartet's 30th Anniversary Season, The Czech Affair, pays tribute to their Czech's connection – and the programme is a reflection of their musical journey. Mentored by former SSO's violist Jiri Heger from Czech Republic, he taught two of the members – Ng Yu-Ying (1st violin) and Ang Chek Meng (2nd violin) – during their formative years as musicians.
Heger, who played an instrumental role in the T’ang Quartet’s development, later helped the ensemble record their debut album, The Art of War, as well as
Made in America album (featuring Jiri), in Prague.
On Oct 4, the ensemble will play three classical quartet masterpieces from Czech composers – Josef Suk's Meditation on the Old Czech Chorale “Saint Wenceslas” Op.35a; Antonin Dvořák's The String Quartet in F Major, Op.96 “American”; and Pavel Haas' String Quartet No 2 Op.7 “From the Monkey Mountains”.
Concertgoers on Oct 4 can purchase T'ang At 30 book at a special price of S$40 (U.P S$55) after the concert to get them autographed at the Meet & Greet.
